It is one of the largest castles covering an area of 60 decares in the Mediterranean. You can reach the city center and the harbor in about 15 minutes on foot. Its foundation was laid on the ruins of the ancient fortress between 482-565 during the Byzantine period. In 1462, the castle was conquered by the Ottomans. During this period, many religious and cosmic buildings were built inside the castle.
